OUR STORY
1836
The Steamship Company is formed with the motto “Vorwärts” (Steaming Ahead) in the Mediterranean. 6 new buildings were ordered in August for delivery in 1837.


1869
Being a shareholder of the Suez Canal company ÖL contributed with 3 passenger ships to the opening of the Suez Canal.
1886
The Company owns 86 passenger vessels and at that time is one of the biggest shipping companies in the world.


1951
The company is re-established in Vienna.
1991
The ship owning company establishes an additional ship management subsidiary for in-house and third party management.


1992
Offices established in Vienna, Hamburg and later on in Limassol (1995).
2008
The Company concentrates purely on ownership again with 6 new buildings ordered and delivered from China and consequently changes its name from Oesterreichischer Lloyd Shipmanagement (Cyprus) Ltd to Oesterreichischer Lloyd Seereederei (Cyprus) Ltd.

2015
The evolution of Österreichischer Lloyd includes refining her identity whilst still maintaining her original motto "Vorwärts" Always Steaming Ahead.
